Kick off the Thanksgiving season by signing up for a Turkey Trot 5K or Fun Run! Join friends, family and members of the community at one of these fun events in Northern Virginia. Not only will you burn off calories, but you will also help raise money for a good cause. Most of the Turkey Trots are scheduled for Thanksgiving Day (in the morning so it won’t interfere with your holiday feast), but a few of them take place the weekend before the holiday. FAIRFAX TURKEY TROT (Pacers Fairfax City)- November 23, 2017 at 9:00am
Grab your friends and family and join us in the heart of Old Town Fairfax for the third annual Fairfax Turkey Trot benefiting the City of Fairfax Fire Department Benevolent Fund. This is a fun course through Old Town, Fairfax and George Mason University. It starts and finishes near the fire station (4081 University Drive in Fairfax City Virginia) just south of University Boulevard & Main Street. 5K/Registration cost: $35-$45*. Sign up early and save.
FAIRFAX TURKEY TROT (Mantua) – November 23, 2017 at 9am
This is a family-fun 4 mile turkey trot. Walk, jog or run. Strollers are welcome. Children 7 and under are free. This year we are proud to be donating the net proceeds again to Britepaths (formerly Our Daily Bread)!

VIENNA TURKEY TROT – November 19, 2017 10K, 5K and Fun Run

The James Madison High School Band will be hosting the 15th Annual Vienna Turkey Trot 5K/10K and Fun Run. All proceeds benefit the JMHS “Pride of Vienna” Band and the Vienna Volunteer Fire Department. Join us for a great run, super music, fun prizes, refreshments after the race and the Finish Line Festival!

42ND ANNUAL ALEXANDRIA TURKEY TROT 5 MILER – November 23, 2017 at 9am
This 5-mile race/walk starts at 9AM on Thanksgiving morning in Del Ray, Alexandria, and is brought to you by the DC Road Runners Club and the Del Ray Business Association. Please support ALIVE!, a nonprofit organization serving Alexandria’s needy, by bringing two nonperishable food items (cans, boxes) on race day. You may also make an optional cash donation when you register. Location: 1005 Mt Vernon Ave, Alexandria, VA 22301. Registration fees: 12 and Under – $5/$10; 13-21 – $15/$20; and 22 and over – $20/$25.
29TH ANNUAL VIRGINIA RUN (Centreville, VA) THANKSGIVING DAY TURKEY TROT – November 23, 2017 at 8am
The 29th Annual Virginia Run Thanksgiving Day Turkey Trot 5K Run and 2K Walk. Founded in 1989 to promote health, community spirit and raise money for a charitable cause. Since its inception the race has donated over $1 Million to Life with Cancer.
Location: 15355 Wetherburn Court, Centreville, VA 20120. Registration fees: 5K $35 (5K field is limited to the first 4000 registrants – No race day registration in the 5K). 2K Walk Children (12 & Under) and Seniors (65 & Over): $10-$15; Adults (ages 13-64): $20 (2K field is unlimited and race day registration will be available).
ARLINGTON TURKEY TROT – November 23, 2017 at 8am
Participants — young and old, human and canine — meander through the Lyon Park and Ashton Heights neighborhoods. Some racers wear the popular race T-shirt while others wear leftover Halloween costumes, turkey and pilgrim garb, or even Christmas attire. It’s not uncommon to see adults with poultry on their heads or Santas running with their elves!
The race’s mission is to provide an opportunity for people of all ages to enjoy a fun, healthy Thanksgiving activity together, and to raise support for six local charities: Arlington Food Assistance Center (AFAC), A-SPAN, Arlington Thrive, Bridges to Independence (formerly AACH), OAR, and Young Life.

HERNDON TURKEY TROT 5K RACE – Sat. November 18, 2017 at 4pm
Runners and walkers, take your mark and get ready to conquer a fun 5K trail course, which winds around the Herndon Centennial Golf Course. The race will begin at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 18, 2017. Packet pick-up and race day registration runs from 1:30-3:30 p.m. Registration fees: Youth Age 18 & Under: $20 and a can of food for donation; Adults Pre-registration: $30 and a can of food for donation; Adults Race Day Registration: $35 and a can of food for donation.
15th ANNUAL FREEZE YOUR GIZZARD CROSS COUNTRY 5K and 1 MILE FUN RUN (Leesburg) – Sat. November 18, 2017 at 9am
Celebrate Thanksgiving a little early this year and take the opportunity to have fun, exercise, and perhaps win a turkey as you freeze your gizzard at Ida Lee Park! The Town of Leesburg Parks and Recreation Department, in partnership with Loudoun Hunger Relief, is hosting the 15th Annual Freeze Your Gizzard Cross Country 5K and 1 Mile Fun Run. Runners of all skill level are invited to join us for this scenic cross country style race through Ida Lee Park’s 138 acres.
The race will be held on Saturday, November 18, 2017. The 5K Race will begin at 9:00 am and the 1 Mile Fun Run will start at 9:45 am, both from the front field of Ida Lee Park. The entry fee for pre-registration is $25.00 for the 5K and $10.00 for the 1 mile, plus 2 cans of food to be brought the day of the event for Loudoun Hunger Relief’s food pantry.
re-registration will be available through Wednesday, November 15th at 8 pm. Day-of-event registration will be available beginning at 7:00 am. Day-of registration fees are $30 for the 5K and $15 for the 1 mile, plus 2 cans of food. Canned food will be donated to Loudoun Hunger Relief’s food bank. More than 1,000 lbs of food was raised at last year’s race. All ages are welcome. Location: Ida Lee Recreation Center, 60 Ida Lee Dr., Leesburg, VA.
GOBBLE UP TURKEY TROT (Organized by the Marine Corp Marathon) – Sat. November 18, 2017 at 8:30am/8:50am
Unleash a pre-emptive strike on holiday calories by running 10K along the tree-lined roadways of Marine Corps Base Quantico.
The Turkey Trot 10K starts and finishes adjacent to Lejeune Hall. Dress in festive Thanksgiving costumes, visit the petting zoo and chase down the frozen turkey and pumpkin pie awards.
Mile Course: Watch these young bird runners take flight on a one-mile run that starts and finishes before the Turkey Trot 10K. Strollers are permitted so even the littlest hatchlings can participate.
Registration for Turkey Trot 10K is $40 and the Turkey Trot Mile will be $15.
