The holidays are over, the weather is colder and the days seem longer. Welcome to winter! The months of January and February seem to drag along for many of us, as we try to keep ourselves busy with cleaning, organizing and exercising while anxiously awaiting the return of spring. D.C. Big Flea and Antique Market: This event is held at the Dulles Expo Center on Saturday from 9am to 6pm and Sunday 11am to 5pm. Cost: $10.
The mid-Atlantic’s largest indoor antiques and collectibles flea market. Come shop for anything from fine antiques to vintage clothing & handbags. Dealers showcase a wide variety of merchandise – porcelains, glass, silver & jewelry, artwork, and collectibles of all eras.

Celebrate Community 5k & 1k Fun Run/Walk: The 5k will start at 9am, with the 1k Fun Run/Walk to follow at 9:05am. The start/finish area is by the US Patent and Trademark Office Atrium on Eisenhower Avenue in Alexandria.
Registration: 5k – $25 until online registration closes on Thursday, January 11 at 8:00 p.m., $35 on race day.

Jurassic Quest: Dulles Expo Center Friday from 3pm to 8pm; Saturday and Sunday 9am to 8pm. Cost: $20. Jurassic Quest brings you a Dinosaur Adventure for the whole family. The main dinosaur exhibit features ultra-realistic, life-size animatronic dinosaurs; Over 80 life-size dinosaurs in all. Visitors can interact with these huge creatures, learn about them and even ride a few. It features realistic scenes, enormous dinosaurs, cute baby dinosaurs and lots of fun activities for kids of all ages. There are huge T-Rex and Triceratops fossil digs where young paleontologists can uncover long hidden dinosaurs bones, the “Dino Bounce” area with several, towering, dinosaur theme inflatable mazes, face painting, Dino crafts and much more!

Chocolate Lover’s Festival: The festival will be held Friday, February 2 for Liquid Chocolate only from 6pm-8pm, Saturday, February 3 from 10am to 7pm and Sunday, February 4 from 12noon to 4pm. This annual event is held in Fairfax City and celebrates all things chocolate including The Taste of Chocolate, The Chocolate Challenge, the Kiwanis Chocolate Chip Pancake Breakfast and a Chocolate Scavenger Hunt. It’s a great time to come and visit the City of Fairfax!

Tet Festival: Dulles Expo Center Friday 4pm to 11:59pm; Saturday and Sunday 10am to 11pm. Each year, the Vietnamese Community in Northern Virginia joyfully celebrates Tet (Lunar New Year) with various festivals. This special three-day indoor grand festival features over 30 famous national and local Vietnamese musical and comedy performers, Vietnamese cultural dances and exhibitions, food tasting galore, and lots and lots of FUN for adults and children. Tet Grand Festival 2018 will be one of the largest Lunar New Year festival in the United States.

Freezin’ For A Reason: Virginia Polar Dip: Take a dip in Lake Anne in Reston to help raise money for Camp Sunshine. Founded in 1984, Camp Sunshine provides retreats combining respite, recreation and support, while enabling hope and promoting joy, for children with life-threatening illnesses and their families through the various stages of a child’s illness. The event is held at Lake Anne Plaza, 1609 Washington Plaza, Reston, VA from 1pm to 4pm. Registration begins at 12pm and the Plunge is at 2pm.
