Turkey Outreach 2018
McLean Bible Church will be assembling Turkey boxes as well as food boxes for our local communities and packing meals for the Philippines on November 17, 2018. Volunteers are needed to help assemble packages and to help distribute them. Get more information and sign up here.

Thanksgiving Meal Provider
Bring the comfort and warmth of home-cooked meals to Northern Virginia Family Serice’s SERVE Family Shelter in Manassas this Thanksgiving (Thursday, Nov. 22) for 92 residents.
Groups of 6-8 can prepare offsite or in the shelter kitchen (or order the meal), then bring the dishes, serve them and share the meal with everyone.

They also need Food Donations to provide Thanksgiving meals to more than 1,200 families in Greater Prince William.  Canned vegetables, stuffing, gravy, cranberry sauce, canned sweet potatoes, canned or instant potatoes, cornbread/muffin mix, Bisquick, canned pumpkin, canned fruit, applesauce, rice, dry or canned beans, soup, pasta and sauces, coffee/tea/cocoa, boxed desserts, Jello/pudding, peanut butter, jelly, sugar and flour

2018 Drop-off Dates:
Saturday, Nov. 10 (10 a.m. – 2 p.m.)
Thursday, Nov. 15 (10 a.m. – 5 p.m.)
Friday, Nov. 16 (10 a.m. – 5 p.m.)

Thanksgiving Food Drive
Reston Community Center once again joins the Greater Reston Chamber of Commerce and Cornerstones to help families in need. Patrons, businesses, and organizations are encouraged to drop off non-perishable food and other items at RCC, the Greater Reston Chamber of Commerce, as well as a variety of other drop-off points. They will be collecting items November 1 – November 19, 2018. For a list of most needed items as well as drop off locations around Reston, please click here.

Volunteers are also need to unload and sort food on November 20 – November 22, 2018 at RCC Hunters Woods and Cornerstones Food Storage Facility.  You can register for these opportunities here.

FACETS Thanksgiving Food Drive
You can help families and individuals we serve enjoy a Thanksgiving dinner this holiday season by donating a basket of non-perishable food and a $25 grocery store gift card (so the recipient may purchase the perishable items need to complete their meal). Please drop off your donations of Thanksgiving food baskets and gift cards by Friday, November 16th. Donations will be accepted at FACETS’ main office (10640 Page Avenue, Suite 300 Fairfax VA 22030) between 9AM – 5PM. Due to storage limitations, we are not able to accept perishable items.

Salvation Army Feast of Sharing
The Salvation Army needs volunteers to help out with the 19th Annual Safeway Feast of Sharing on November 21, 2018. Your support provides meals to thousands of our D.C. neighbors in need. They will be serving a free Thanksgiving meal to 5, 000 people at the Walter E. Washington (DC) Convention Center at 801 Mt. Vernon Place NW, in downtown Washington, DC.  There are various volunteer shifts and a variety volunteer positions available during the day, beginning as early as 6 am and concluding at 5pm.

Food & Friends Thanksgiving Volunteers
Food & Friends will be providing more than 3,500 Thanksgiving meals to their clients facing life-challenging illnesses in the DMV area. They need volunteers Thanksgiving week and/or Thanksgiving Day to help with food preparation, packing groceries and delivering Turkey Boxes. Various shifts are available. Lorton Community Action Center Thanksgiving Food Baskets
LCAC needs volunteers to assemble food baskets and then deliver them to the drop off location on Sunday, November 18 between 11am and 2pm in Lorton (there is an alternate drop off location for Nov. 9 – 16). You will find details here including list of foods to include in the basket. They also need volunteers to help with other tasks such as sorting food and distributing food.
